Evaluating Satellite Fire Detection Products and an Ensemble Approach for Estimating Burned Area in the United States

چکیده
Fire location and burning area are essential parameters for estimating fire emissions. However, ground-based data (such as perimeters from incident reports) often not available with the timeliness required real-time forecasting. detection products derived satellite instruments such GOES-16 Advanced Baseline Imager or MODIS, on other hand, in near real-time. Using a ground dataset of 2699 fires during 2017–2019, we fit series linear models that use multiple (HMS aggregate product, GOES-16, VIIRS) to assess ability detect estimate total burned area. It was found average detections performed better than those developed satellites study (modelled R2 = 0.84 predictive 0.88). no single product best area, highlighting need an ensemble approach. With our proposed modelling ensemble, demonstrate its suggest further daily tracking emissions-modeling frameworks.

Assessing variability and long-term trends in burned area by merging multiple satellite fire products
Long term, high quality estimates of burned area are needed for improving both prognostic and diagnostic fire emissions models and for assessing feedbacks between fire and the climate system. We developed global, monthly burned area estimates aggregated to 0.5 spatial resolution for the time period July 1996 through mid-2009 using four satellite data sets. From 2001–2009, our primary data sourc...
متن کاملStrategies for the fusion of satellite fire radiative power with burned area data for fire radiative energy derivation
[1] Instantaneous estimates of the power released by a fire (Fire Radiative Power, FRP) are available with satellite active fire detection products. Integrating FRP in time provides an estimate of the total energy released (Fire Radiative Energy, FRE), which can be converted into burned biomass estimates needed by the atmospheric emissions modeling community. While straightforward in theory, th...

the search for the self in becketts theatre: waiting for godot and endgame
this thesis is based upon the works of samuel beckett. one of the greatest writers of contemporary literature. here, i have tried to focus on one of the main themes in becketts works: the search for the real "me" or the real self, which is not only a problem to be solved for beckett man but also for each of us. i have tried to show becketts techniques in approaching this unattainable goal, base...
